| Hadjikhani, Nouchine (Harvard) and deGelder, Beatrice (Tilburg) | Imaging experiments reveal the amygdala and fusiform cortex to be the same brain structures that respond to facial expressions AND bodily expressions of fear. Moreover EEGs showed that this response is not likely to be a consequence of the formation of mental images because the activation occurs faster than mental images can be formed. To help with their experiment they constructed a database of images of bodily expressions of emotions, akin to Ekman's compilation of facial expressions. Feb 04 JW | Current Biology Dec 2003 |
